13-year-old Sofi moves involuntary from the big city to the countryside with her mother, and her mother's boyfriend while all her friends is back in the city. At the new place Sofi meet up with a wise old lady, that tells her scary stories about unsolved mysteries from the village past.

冬、はしかを患い2週間寝込んで衰弱したトミーとアンニカ。ピッピは二人の転地療養をセッテルグレーン夫妻に申し出、認められる。行き先はエフライム船長が族長を務める南の島。寄航した船長の船に乗り、一ヶ月の予定で大旅行。クリスマスを過ぎた1月始めに帰国する。
