修学旅行で、広島平和記念公園を訪れた中学生の美依と優子。公園の片隅にポツンと立つ「マルセル・ジュノー博士」と刻まれた顕彰碑を見つけます。「誰？　何した人なの」。 と、突然ふたりは不思議な光に包まれ、意識だけが時空を越え70年以上前のヨーロッパへ。 1935年。フランス、ミュールーズの病院で働いていた青年医師ジュノーは赤十字国際委員会の派遣員としてエチオピアへ向かいます。タイムスリップしてきた美依と優子もジュノーの苦難と波乱に満ちた“暗夜行路”に旅立ちます。エチオピアに赴いたジュノー。赤十字だろうと構わずに加えられる無差別攻撃。毒ガスの投下。次々に倒れていく人々。戦争という悲惨な現実を目の当たりにしますが、若きジュノーは不屈の精神で立ち上がり、戦火に苦しむ人々に惜しむことなく愛の手を差し伸べていきます。 ジュノーの活動はエチオピアからスペイン、そして第二次世界大戦下のヨーロッパ全土へと続きます。捕虜の待遇改善と交換。手紙のやり取り。支援物資輸送路の確保…。ジュノーは人道的立場から弱者の「心」を支えます。その姿をみた美依と優子は、問題を抱えた自分たちを省みます。 「この人、どうしてここまで人のために立ち上がれるの？」 1945年。赤十字の駐日首席代表に任命されたジュノーは原爆投下直後の広島の惨状に驚きます。救援を訴えるジュノーに動かされたＧＨＱは広島へ15トンの医療物資の供与を決定。博士自らも治療に心血を注ぎます。後日、ジュノーと会見したマッカーサーは彼に尋ねます。「人のために働く原動力は何かね？」 「それは…愛です」この言葉こそ博士の行動を見守ってきた美依と優子が知りたかった答えでした。博士の原動力を知ったふたりは現代に戻ります。その目には暖かくも力強い愛の光が灯っていました。

However, it is by no means esoteric, and its unnatural, off-the-wall, humorous images and story are certainly connected to our everyday lives.
