In this fast-paced Greek wedding comedy, young lovers Ilias and Marina arrive on the island of Crete for their wedding, along with their large, boisterous families all eager to celebrate the nuptials. However, when a typo on the wedding invitation confuses the reception venue and scatters the guests in different directions, they embark on a collision course of increasingly comedic proportions.

The Popular Front wins elections, the Spanish Civil War begins, and Hitler and Stalin are manipulating and spying. The brilliant exile, Fiodor Voronin, a general at 20, is the deputy at the White Russian Military Union, probably slated to replace the aging Général Dobrinsky soon. Fiodor's Greek wife, Arsinoé, paints and stays away from politics, befriending Communist neighbors. Her health declines; the attentive Fiodor arranges care and, against the backdrop of Stalin's Great Purge, considers his options. He plays a chess game in which love of country, love of Arsinoé, ideology, petty jealousies, and the machinations of power roil in matters of life and death.

Dimitris, a grumpy middle-aged man, is having a hard time with his business partner on a particular decision as to opening a new business; and he's also having a hell of a time with his family members. He has a really short temper, and the unpleasant behaviour of his nasty wife and his disrespectful children don't contribute much to his health.

Anna faces everyday problems in her Greek life. Her previous "man" left her debts, the new guy approved not to be the right one, in addition to these she loses her job and indeed needs somebody to rescue her!
