Kyôichi Mori

1度は奨励会を退会したものの、35歳にしてプロ編入という史上初の偉業を成し遂げた瀬川晶司五段の自伝的映画。自身も元奨励会という豊田利晃監督が、迫力ある盤上の戦いを見事に描き上げる。主演に松田龍平。

夫婦二人の船旅の途中、嵐に遭い無人島に漂着した清子。そこにある日、16人の若いフリーターたちが流れ着く。さらには密航に失敗した6人の中国人たちが加わり、若い男23人と清子の共同生活が始まる。いつまで待っても助けの船は来ず、いつしか島を“東京島”と呼ぶようになる中、清子はただ一人の女性として特別視され、したたかに生き抜いていく。月日は流れ、島に定住しようとする男たちに対し、清子は脱出のための行動を開始するが……。
