略歴

Michael van Gerwen is a Dutch professional darts player. He dominated the darts world for several years and was number one in the world from 2014 to 2021, until Gerwyn Price won the PDC World Darts Championship and placed himself at the top of the rankings. He is a three-time PDC World Champion and won the title in 2014, 2017 and 2019, he also won dozens of major and minor titles and is considered one of the most successful darts players ever. He has won every major tournament at least once. At 17 years and 298 days, Van Gerwen is the youngest player of all time to throw a televised nine-darter. In total he has already thrown eight nine-darters in front of TV cameras, 17 more in smaller PDC events. At the 2023 PDC World Darts Championship final he took part in one of, if not the greatest, sporting moments in humankind history when he missed a 9 dart finish just before his opponent Michael Smith hit a 9 darter himself in the very same leg.
