突然現われた異星からの侵略者に、地球はわずか3日で征服された。そんな中、ロス市警の刑事マークは、息子を追って自らも宇宙船に吸い込まれる。そこで彼は、脳を部品として移植されながら、なお人間としての理性を保つエイリアンの生体ロボットと出会い、その協力で内部から宇宙船を破壊することに成功する。宇宙船は内戦の続くラオスに墜落、脱出したマークら生存者たちは、現地の反政府組織のアジトに身を寄せる。

内戦状態にある東欧モルドバで反乱軍鎮圧の任務にあたっていたアメリカ軍兵士が、姿の見えない奇妙な敵に襲われて変死した。真相解明のため現地に派遣されたクライン博士は、高性能カメラで敵の姿を捉えてその正体を見極めるべく、CIAの女性職員フランと共に特殊部隊に同行することに。しかし敵は肉眼で見えないだけでなく、超高速で移動する上に触られただけで即死、さらにマシンガンも手榴弾も効かないという恐ろしい存在だった。大量の敵に取り囲まれてしまったクライン博士たちは、決死の脱出を図る。
