Daniela Schneider
略歴
Daniela Schneider (Mexico City - 1980). She studied filmmaking in Barcelona at the same time as painting with sculptor Gabriel Sanz at the Escola Massana. Upon returning to Mexico, she worked on Carlos Reygadas' second film Batalla en el Cielo. In this same film she meets Amat Escalante, who months later invites her to direct the art direction of his first project, Sangre.
Her short film Pescador participates in the International Festival Clermont Ferrand, France, with the support of BBVA Bancomer. Her first feature film: Cesado, with the support of Hubert Bals of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, has its world premiere in the International Competition of FICUNAM, in 2011.
She has worked as a production and casting designer for over 18 years with filmmakers and producers such as Amat Escalante, Carlos Reygadas, Jaime Romandía, Alejandro Landes, David Pablos, Pablo Cruz, Lorenzo Vigas and Yorgos Lanthimos. He is currently writing what will be his second feature film and is working on different film projects related to the police in Mexico City and other states of the Republic.

She convinces them that in the nearby woods, inside an isolated cabin, dwells something not of this world that could be the answer to all of their problems... something whose force they cannot resist and with whom they must make peace or suffer its wrath.

Writer
Coral, a 7 year old girl, goes to the construction site of a house in the beaches of Puerto Escondido Oaxaca every day after school to visit his godfather Diego. She waits for hours for Diego to take her home, spending time creating her own pieces and transforming her little universe. While she waits, Coral meets Oriente, a carpenter that hopes to see again his family in a faraway town.

Sofia, 14 years old, is in love with Ulises. Because of him, in spite of him, she is forced into a prostitution network in Mexico. To set her free, Ulises will have to find another girl to replace her. Adapted from Jorge Volpi’s novel, set in the world of juvenile prostitution.
Art Direction
Ras is a graffiti artist from the city of Cali who works in construction, he works during the day and paints walls at night. One day he is caught stealing cans of paint from the construction site where he works, for which he is fired. With no money, he will look for Calvin, another popular urban artist. Both will circulate through the streets without a fixed destination, spreading their art to every corner.

Following in the footsteps of directors such as Carlos Reygadas, the cinematographer Daniela Schneider works with non-professional actors for her first work, which narrates the struggle of a family in leading a normal life after experiencing the father’s serious sickness. The connotations offered in the film are recurrent in Mexican cinema: relations between different social classes and identity. A while back, Juan suffered a brain stroke; today he dependson everybody, including the employees. While, he finds amusement and comfort in horror movies,his wife Alicia tries to fight pain with memories of her glory days as a model. Matias, their only son, struggles to find a place in the midst of this situation.
