Pauline juggles life between her kids and her work as a landscape designer where she has to fight for her place amongst her male colleagues. Her life is turned upside-down when her mother tells her that she is going to live abroad and will no longer be able to take care of her children, then becomes chaotic when she is appointed manager of an important project. On all fronts, her life takes a turn for the worse.

Based on a series of events over the course of one day, Oscar learns that he doesn’t have very long to live. Time has passed without him having noticed or, rather, accepted this fact. Following this brutal realisation and moments filled with doubt and loneliness, Oscar notices that he isn’t really alone.

Jean-Pierre is a literature professor in Switzerland. Due to the vagarities of Swiss law, he is selected, basically at random, to be the guardian of a parentless teenage boy named Antoine. Conflict comes into the story as Jean-Pierre, who has just accepted a major promotion, must now deal with caring for a teenage boy he doesn't want to care for, as well as handling his own jealous boyfriend. Then his wife steps into the picture. Things get complicated from there as Jean-Pierre tries to get out of his guardianship.
