内気な女子高生のミアは、父グラントの再婚でできた義理の姉サーシャとも打ち解けられず孤独な日々を送っていた。マヤ文明の遺跡を研究する考古学者のグラントはそんなミアを心配し、船中からサメを鑑賞する観光ツアーに姉妹を誘う。ところがそこへサーシャの親友アレクサとニコールが合流し、姉妹をマヤ文明の遺跡が眠る海底でのスリリングな洞窟ダイビングに連れ出す。それは高度な技術と装備が求められる上級者向けのアクティビティだったが、ダイビング初心者の４人は安易な探検気分で洞窟を目指す。そして海底洞窟の入り口で、マヤ文明の遺跡を目の当たりにして興奮するミアたちだったが…。
