For Berliners, the Baltic island of Usedom was once the most luxurious destination for excursions within striking distance of the city. This is where imperial Germany’s grand health resorts of Bansin, Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck were built. Heinz Brinkmann, who was born in Heringsdorf, traces the eventful history of his island.

Alfred, promoted to the position of deputy executive editor, ends up in prison and receiving psychiatric help as a result of a catch-22 situation involving protests and alcoholism. Michael, who had studied foreign trade in Moscow, was kicked out of the Academy and now earns a living crafting lamps.

Pipeline workers at the end of 1989. Daily life seems as ever to be determined by the rhythm of work, and the time spent in the workers' cabins. The camera films the excited, partly comical (though not to be taken any less seriously), debates on the changes happening in the country, and in this way tries to show more about the political events and the opinions of these workers, than usual documentary techniques can achieve.

The rock group "Kerschowski" was founded in March 1985. The film portrays the composer, singer and songwriter Lutz Kerschowski. He grew up in Blankenfelde in Berlin, became a car-fitter after leaving school, then studied music and became a rock-singer. He is filmed and interviewed during rehearsals and a concert with his band.
