"Torn off" is, on the one hand, a monologue of one Chukchi, and on the other - of an entire nation. A monologue about life, about the Motherland, about what makes the Chukchi break away from their roots. This film is a possible projection of our future. Because many of us, choosing the benefits of civilization, risk losing ourselves. How to get out of the "blizzard"? It seems the Chukchi know the answer…

The film focuses on an extraordinary person called Igor Burtsev. He has traveled half the world in the search for Yeti. And though his friends and colleagues look at his hobby with irony he is not planning to give up. He is sure that Bigfoot is somewhere near, and they are bound to meet some day. In fact? it doesn’t really matter whether the long awaited meeting is to happen, or not. What matters is that Burtsev’s loyal friend called Yeti prompts him every day to keep moving forward.

The documentary looks into the fate of the girls trapped in sexual slavery. The film unfolds in India, a country that occupies an unhappy first place among countries with the highest volumes of human trafficking. Several prostitutes who became heroines of this film are living in the Red Light district of Mumbai – some time ago they were sold to this district by their own parents. The other plot line of the documentary is the story of a little girl living in one of Northern India’s poorest villages. In a couple of years she too can follow the Mumbai ladies’ path.

The Central African Republic. Here in the shade of sub-panel rainforests lives a tribe of the shortest people on Earth - the Baka pigmies. As it was hundreds years ago they hunt for meat and gather gifts of big trees. They pray to the spirits of the forest and teach their children to respect the forest, to take from it only what is of great need. But little by little their traditional mode is changing under the pressure of the "Big World" culture.
