Apartment building superintendent Cleveland Heep rescues what he thinks is a young woman from the pool he maintains. When he discovers that she is actually a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the journey back to her home, he works with his tenants to protect his new friend from the creatures that are determined to keep her in our world.

トップハム・ハット卿が休暇で暫くの間ソドー島を離れる事になり、『シャイニング・タイム駅』の駅員『ミスター・コンダクター』が、局長代理として島へ来ることになった。トーマスたち機関車は彼を歓迎するものの、極悪非道なディーゼル機関車、ディーゼル10も謎の機関車『レディー』を捕まえるべくソドー島に帰って来ていた。そのレディーは、マッフル・マウンテンに住むバーネット・ストーンが洞窟に隠していた。彼は以前、この機関車を守るようコンダクター家に頼まれていたが、数年前、レディーを酷い目に合わせてしまい、それ以来山に閉じ籠ってしまう。ソドー島では、誰もがディーゼルに脅える中、やっとミスターコンダクターがソドー島に到着する。しかし、ソドー島とシャイニング・タイムを行き来するのに必要な『魔法の粉』が底を尽きてしまい、ピンチを迎えてしまう。
