ディズニー・アニメーション・スタジオが、南の島と大海原を舞台に描いた長編アニメーション。かつて世界を生んだ命の女神テ・フィティの心が、伝説の英雄と言われたマウイによって盗まれ、世界に闇が生まれた。それから1000年にわたり、モアナの生まれ育った島モトゥヌイでは、外洋に出ることが禁じられていた。そんなある時、島で作物や魚たちに異変が発生。海の不思議な力に選ばれた少女モアナは、いまもどこかで生きているマウイを探し出し、テ・フィティの心を元あった場所に戻すことができれば世界を救えると知り、父親の反対を押し切り大海原に旅立つ。
