将来のためといって母親から押し付けられる英才教育に飽き飽きしていた9歳の女の子。受験のため名門校の近くに引っ越しまでさせられた彼女は、あるとき隣に住む変わり者の老人と親しくなる。かつて飛行士だったという彼は、若き日に砂漠に不時着したとき出会った不思議な少年“星の王子さま”との思い出を語り出す。彼の話に夢中になった女の子は、病に倒れた老人のため、もう一度王子さまを探し出そうと冒険の旅に出発する。
