A documentary about loss, faith, guilt and redemption, The Fourth Character follows the routes of the three characters within the cityscape and reveals the connection between time, the human experience and the city. The movie observes the everyday rituals of these three people while their stories are intertwined with the sounds of Athens.

In the rehabilitation unit of an Athenian trauma hospital, victims of serious accidents struggle to walk again… or at least return to an autonomous existence. Divided between hope and acceptance, they offer us a glimpse into the depths of human condition.

9世紀のアイルランド。スコットランドの島から高名な修道士エイダンが、「聖なる書」を携えてやって来る。エイダンは、少年の修道士であるブレンダンにインクの原料となる植物の実を採ってきてほしいと依頼。ブレンダンは、妖精の少女アシュリンの協力もあり、危険な森で何とか実を採取する。するとエイダンは、ブレンダンに本の続きを書くように頼み……。
