引っ越し直後で近所に友達がいない少年、アンディ(ガブリエル・ベイトマン)は、誕生日に母親(オーブリー・プラザ)からバディ人形をもらう。その人形は最先端テクノロジー企業・カスラン社の新商品で、音声認識やセンサー付きカメラなど高度な機能を備えていた。人形は“チャッキー”と名乗り、アンディに一番の親友だと話し掛ける。しかしこの人形は欠陥品だった。
