A real murder case which was complicated by the ménage à trois relationship the victim had with the main suspects. As different witnesses narrated their conflicting stories, the case seemed set to lead to nowhere; especially when the real identity of the dead person was finally discovered.

"Purple Night" shows the dangerous influence commerce can have on artistic integrity and is also about themes such as love and friendship, the relationship between art and life and the conflict between rich and poor.

Ghost-faced To is murdered in a mortuary after paying a visit to Muk Lan-fa. A set of teeth is found missing from another dead body. Lan-fa’s sister Sau-chen follows the leads on a business card To left behind to a dental clinic which suddenly bursts into flame. The news of her sister’s abduction by the infamous Japanese criminal Katsu Saburo soon reaches Lan-fa. Working together with her police friend Ko Cheung to crack the case, Lan-fa analyses photo evidences in minute detail. The duo order the retrieval of a pole that has survived the explosion intact while lying in wait at the clinic. Sau-chen, who has escaped, saves the duo from the chiller where they are detained. Inspector Yeung retrieves the operation plan concealed in the pole and the secret codes in the set of teeth, but the spook is shot dead by Katsu before he could reach the Hell’s Gate and the treasure buried there. Constable Kwan, and others and wipes out the gang at the Hell’s Gate.

Director Wong Yiu, recognising the spending power of a new demographic, was looking to create a teenage sensation for the factory girls. It soon became a social phenomenon in the 1960s. Former child star Connie Chan Po-chu fitted the bill perfectly with her doe-eyed innocence framed by silky long hair. In Girls are Flowers, she plays a young tutor falling in love with a handsome boy. However, their road to romance is paved with potholes and speed bumps. Chan's fellow former child star Nancy Sit plays the boy's younger sister who saves the day with her shrewd, nimble-minded plans. Sit's role may be small but with radiance from her glorious smile and beaming personality, she brightens up this musical romantic comedy like a fairy-tale nymph.

Guerrilla fighter Lam Suet-fan is in charge of the operation which succeeds in crippling the traitorous activities of Ting Chuen. An infuriated Ting strikes back, swamping the occupied territory with spies and exposes the singer disguise of Lam's comrade Laura who is made his mistress. Through the discreet help from Ting's cousin Sai-kit who goes undercover as the traitor's house guest, a series of offensives are launched, resulting in heavy casualties in the Japanese camp. With pressure mounting on both sides, guerrilla leader Lady Spy No.1 entrusts the mission of bombing Ting's signal tower to Lam who will then lead the troop in retreat. The mission fails, leading to the arrest of Lam and Sai-kit. Laura puts her life at stake in order to accomplish the mission and before she expires, reveals herself to be their leader and names Lam her successor to lead the troop to its stronghold in the north. Cheung framed Chan For. Chan orders his wife not to tell this to their children, Ah Lan and Hung. His wife passes away. On her deathbed, she asked a neighbour, To Chung-man, to take care of her children. Claiming to be a good friend of their father, Chan For moves in to the bed next to Ah Lan to take care of his children. Hung likes this uncle because he always treats him generously. But Ah Lan finds "Uncle For" weird and enthusiastic. Ah Lan is forced to pay her mother's debt. Hung is suffering from acute appendicitis. To solve Ah Lan's financial problem, Chung-man returns to his rich family and accept an arranged marriage. Ah Lan decides to sell herself to the construction site foreman for one night. Chan For wants to stop his daughter from making this deal, so he agrees to work for Cheung again. The next day he carries out a robbery and is caught. Ah Lan and Chung-man visit him in jail, and hold their wedding ceremony in front of him. He looks forward to the days when he returns.

The Flying Dragon gang goes on a rampage and the police Inspector is at his wits' end. He then commissions Wong Ngung, Wu Ngar and Heung Nga to help him catch the gang members. Suet-ying, a young woman, is addicted to gambling and owes a huge sum to the gambling den that belongs to the Flying Dragon gang. She has even signed IOUs. When the younger sister of Ying's husband sees that Ying is weighed down by worries, she asks Wu Ngar for help. Wu Ngar sneaks into the gambling den, but her behaviour is suspected by the gang leaders, Tai-kit and Tai-hong. Fortunately, Wong Ngung saves her. To get back the IOUs, Ying falls under the control of Hong and Kit. Master Lung has evil designs on Ying. He first kills Kit and seizes Ying. Hong then shoots and kills Lung. Wong Ngung and her two partners get back the IOUs for Ying. They notify the police Inspector to arrest the members of the Flying Dragon gang. Hong is shot and injured by Wong Ngung. He is arrested with the other gang members.

Adapted from a popular 'three dime novel' the story revolves around two down-and-out buddies, one streetwise and quick-witted the other naïve and kind-hearted. This oddball duo go through up and downs and eventually get their break in life.

Poor teacher Chan Chi-hong, his wife Lee Yuk-mei and their five children survive on his meagre pay. When he is laid off by two schools in a row, the family runs into difficulties. The children resort to begging on the streets to pay the mother's medical bills. Turning to writing, Chan's novel fails to find a publisher and, worse still, he comes down with tuberculosis. Dealt a further blow by the death of the youngest daughter and the pressures from the loan sharks, Chan contemplates killing himself and his family but changes his mind when he witnesses the sacrifices made by other parents for their children. He vows to be a dutiful father and tries his best to overcome their adversities. His novel is finally published and sells well. Through thick and thin, the family at last sees the light at the end of the tunnel.

They stop over an allegedly haunted house where they save the lovers To Lok-yin and Yu Mei-yung from their attemped suicide. Hen learn their story and decide to help them out. Yin comes from a rich family, he lost his father when he was very young and was brought up by his uncle. Now that he is old enough to claim his inheritance, the guardian, his uncle, in order to keep the fortune under control, forces him to marry a girl of his choosing. The couple cannot face separation and resolve to end their lives together. Hen thinks of a way to help them, which involves Yin pretending to comply; that is, to go ahead with the marriage arrangement. On the wedding day, they swap the bride with Yung. Disguised as a matchmaker and a county official respectively, Hen and Bo reprimand To's uncle who schemes to seize To's family fortune. To and Yu marry.
