主人公のザック(デイン・デハーン)は、最愛の恋人のベス(オーブリー・プラザ)を不慮の事故により亡くし、悲嘆に暮れていた。しかし数日後、思いがけない奇跡が起きる。ベスが墓穴から這い出して、家に戻ってきたのだ!ザックは彼女とは別れるつもりだったのだが、神様がやり直しのチャンスくれたと思い、これまで以上にベスを大切にしようと努める。しかし次第にベスがゾンビとして成長していく姿にザックは戸惑い、段々と心が離れていく自分に気づく。そんなとき、幼なじみのエリカ(アナ・ケンドリック)に出会い、きれいな生身の人間に惹かれはじめるザック。しかし、ゾンビになりかけているベスは、それを許さなかった...。
