Two mountaineers undertake a clandestine expedition to Popocatépetl, one of the most active and dangerous volcanoes on the planet. Faced with the inability to predict explosions, which occur very frequently, surviving or not is a matter of chance. Along the way, the mystique of the landscape manifests itself strongly in these forbidden badlands, and the mountain, the closest point to heaven and divinity, is at the same time, the only window towards the core of the earth.

Nancy is a mariachi woman who was unfairly imprisoned after being mistaken for a human trafficker as she attempted to cross the border into the United States. Now she lives in Mexico with her husband, Teo, with whom she has a son. Every day she goes to Mexico City's Garibaldi Square, the most important meeting point for mariachis in the world, where she is one of very few mariachi women, and she sings to support her family.

While a comet approaches Earth, and thousands of people disappear from the face of the planet, a young woman returns to her hometown in search of her childhood's friend.
