富士山の麓に広がる青木ヶ原樹海。自殺の名所としていまや海外にも広く知られたこの地に、アメリカからはるばるやって来たアーサー。森の奥深くでひとり静かに睡眠薬を飲んで自殺するつもりでいた彼だったが、そこへふと、森からの出口を求めてさすらうひとりの日本人男性が、すっかり憔悴し切った姿で出現。やむなくアーサーも男と一緒になって出口を探すが、一向に森から抜け出すことができず、2人はさまよい続けるはめに。
