18-year-old Jesús lives with his stern, somewhat unaffectionate father in Santiago, Chile. When not doing drugs, having casual sex or simply slouching in front of the TV, Jesús and his friends perform in a K-pop boyband. But his routine is thrown into chaos one evening when he and his drunken posse viciously assault a young gay man and leave him for dead. 2010年8月5日、チリのサンホセ鉱山で落盤事故が起こり、坑道の奥深くに33人の従業員が閉じ込められてしまう。食料の備蓄は3日分しかなく救出活動も難航する中、地下700メートルの避難所ではマリオをリーダーに、従業員たちが少しずつ食料を分け合いながら救援を待ち続ける。次第に生存が絶望視されていく中で17日目、33人の生存を外にいる救出員たちが確認し、大型ドリルを使った救出作戦が決行される。
