1932～33年にニューヨークで、1933～34年にロンドンで好評を得たドワイト・テイラー作のミュージカル・コメディー「陽気な離婚」の映画化で、脚色には「ラジオは笑う」「その夜」の小ジョージ・マリオン・ジュニアと「ふるさとの唄」のドロシ・ヨーストが共同し、監督には「メリケン万歳爆走の巻」「レヴュー艦隊」のマーク・サンドリッチが当たった。主役は「空中レヴュー時代」に出演したフレッド・アステアたジンジャー・ロジャースのチームで「坊やが盗まれた」「紐育・ブロードウェイ」のアリス・ブラディ、「生活の設計」「恋の手ほどき(1933)」のエドワード・エヴァレット・ホートンが共演するほか、エリック・ローズ、エリック・ブローア、ウィリアム・オースティン等が助演している。舞踏振り付けは「空中レヴュー時代」「レヴュー艦隊」のデーヴ・ゴールドで、撮影は「舗道」「お蝶夫人」のデイヴィット・エーベルで、トリック撮影は「コングの復讐」のヴァーノン・ウォーカーが担当。
