In Margate, England, life is not easy for teenager Sarah Taylor, between being bullied at school, being exploited by a dominant boss and having to take care of her depressive mother and her two siblings. But Sarah finds a way to channel her growing despair and fight adversity when her drama teacher gives her a new purpose.

Mumatar is an original comedy short film about Sandra – a single mum who struggles to adjust when her only child leaves home. After witnessing a bullying incident at the school where she works as a cleaner, Sandra draws inspiration from computer game avatars, dons a homemade costume and becomes a real life local superhero ... 2001年9月11日に起きた同時多発テロ事件を受けて、アメリカ主導の下に始まった対テロ戦争にイギリスも参加。タリバン勢力を掃討すべく、アフガニスタンにも多くの若者が派兵されることに。2006年9月5日。同地の村カジャキに駐留していたイギリス部隊の兵士のひとり、スチューは、移動パトロール中、地雷を踏んで右足を失うはめに。さらには、彼の救出に駆けつけたほかの仲間たちも、次々と地雷に触れて重傷を負う。
