ナチスドイツ支配下のフランスからスイスへ、子どもたちだけで旅を続けたユダヤ人の少女の実話を映画化したヒューマンドラマ。1943年、ナチスドイツの脅威がヨーロッパへ広がり、フランスも支配下に置かれた。13歳のユダヤ人の少女ファニーは、幼い2人の妹とともに児童施設に匿われていたが、密告者によって存在が暴かれてしまい、別の施設に移動することに。しかし、ドイツ兵の厳しい取り締まりのため、移動中に引率者とはぐれてしまう。見知らぬ駅に取り残された9人の子どもたちは、ファニーをリーダー役に、一路スイスを目指して子どもたちだけで移動を開始するが……。実在の女性ファニー・ベン＝アミの自伝を原作に、フランスの名匠ジャック・ドワイヨンを父に持つローラ・ドワイヨン監督が手がけた。
