Set in contemporary Rotorua, New Zealand and the speculative world of black holes, it is a 20 minute interactive narrative virtual reality. Minimum Mass takes place in a real-time, photorealistic computer generated story world and has been developed as an in-headset experience.

西暦2154年。人類は惑星ポリフェマスの最大衛星パンドラに鉱物採掘基地を開いている。この星は熱帯雨林のような未開のジャングル覆われていて獰猛な動物と”ナヴィ”という先住種族が暮らしており、森の奥には地球のエネルギー問題解決の鍵となる希少鉱物の鉱床がある。この星の大気は人間に適さないので屋外活動にはマスクを着用する必要があり、ナヴィと意思疎通し交渉するために人間とナヴィの遺伝子を組み合わせて人間が作りあげた”アバター”が用いられた。

ある夜、プリンストン大学で教諭をする地球外生物学者、ヘレン・ベンソン博士の自宅にアメリカ政府のエージェントが突然やってきた。強制的にある非常事態への協力を求められたヘレンは1年前に他界した夫の連れ子であるジェイコブを隣人に預け、あわただしく公用車に乗り込む。すでに政府は軍を総動員出動させ警戒態勢を敷き、町は異様なまでに静まり返っていた。政府がヘレンのほかに核物理学・天文学・地質学などの権威を招集したのは、木星の外側で観測された謎の物体への対策を講じるためだった。小惑星と思われるその物体は想定外の進路を信じがたい速度で移動し、マンハッタンへと迫っているのだった。

1993年、国際世論におされた米軍は民族紛争の続くソマリアへ派兵。内戦を終結させようと最大勢力ババルギディル族を率いて和平に反対するアイディード将軍の副官２名を捕らえるため、約100名の特殊部隊を首都モガディシュへ強襲させた。当初、作戦は１時間足らずで終了するはずだったが、作戦の開始直後にアイディード将軍派の民兵により２機のヘリコプターがロケットランチャーで撃墜されてしまう。 敵地の中心へ仲間たちの救出に向かう兵士らは泥沼の市街戦に突入していく。
