大学進学が近い18歳の少年リチャードは、同じ学校のラグビー部でチームメイトだった友人たちと楽しく夏休みを過ごす。やがてリチャードは同い年の少女ララと出会って意気投合し、彼女と恋に落ちる。ある晩、近所の家のパーティーでリチャードはささいなきっかけからララの元恋人コナーとけんかになり、リチャードは倒れたコナーを放置して帰宅する。翌日、コナーが遺体となって見つかったためリチャードは強くショックを受ける。
