18歳で亡き父の石油掘削機の事業を引き継ぎ大富豪となったハワード・ヒューズ。1927年、21歳の彼は、その莫大な財産を全て注ぎ込み、航空アクション映画「地獄の天使」の製作に着手。30年に同作を完成させると大ヒットを記録し一躍ハリウッド・セレブの仲間入りを果たす。

南極で研究を続ける古代気象学者ジャック・ホール教授は調査データから地球規模の自然危機を予感する。そして、その4か月後、東京などで異常気象が発生し彼の嫌な予感は現実味を帯びてくる。
