1970年代、脇役俳優のオームは人気女優シャンティに恋をするが、シャンティは売れっ子プロデューサーのムケーシュと密かに結婚・妊娠していた。しかし、ムケーシュは、妻の妊娠を喜ぶどころか疎ましく思っており、ある晩、撮影中の映画のセットにシャンティを呼び出し、罠にはめて殺害。シャンティを助けようと駆け付たオームも、映画スターのカプール夫妻の車にはねられてしまい、搬送先の病院で息を引き取る。オームの死亡と同じ時、同じ病院でカプール夫人は男児を出産。その男の子はオームと名付けられて育ち、30年後、スター俳優として活躍するが……。
