The film consists of four short stories, each of which tells about the love story of the main character throughout her life. A simple, fragile girl turns out to be stronger and more courageous than many men around her.

Lena is a talented midwife and gynaecologist, her husband Serezha is an actor at a provincial drama theatre. They are close and gentle with each other, but there is no sex. Lena suspects that Serezha has an affair, but she worries quietly and does not reveal her jealousy. Instead of sorting out her relationship with her husband, Lena starts to betray him with chance acquaintances. Gradually Lena’s parallel life gets out of control and changes her original life.

The film tells about a unique creative and family duet, about two outstanding theater directors - Henriette Janowska and Kama Ginkas. For thirty years, they continue to build an amazing theater house - not only for themselves and their actors, but also for hundreds of viewers loyal to them. This house is called the Moscow Youth Theater. The film is a family portrait in the interior of the theater and in the "exterior" of time.

Alevtina Romanova is a warden in the woman's colony, and the only thing that is different from her «iron lady» image is her voice - a voice which even a notable opera diva would envy. However, Alevtina has been ashamed of her talent since the times she was a kid and nowadays, preliminarily making sure no one's around, she rarely sings for herself. Despite the fact that Alevtina is trying to stay invisible, one of the prisoners secretly records her singing on video by a cellphone and puts it online. The tape becomes a real sensation, and soon Alevtina is invited to Moscow to participate in the main singing show on national television. A sincere desire to change her life awakens inside Alevtina but she's not ready to compete in the show at all. The only person who could train her voice and prepare her for the performance is that very prisoner, who recorded the video, who turns out to be a singer in the past.
