A mysterious girl lies on the edge of the waves. A policeman at a police box along the beach. A young mother searches aimlessly for her missing daughter, and a man works with her. A young man in a rabbit suit who keeps distributing leaflets to find his missing girlfriend. What exactly is the "girl" that each of these people is searching for...?

近所でも偏屈者として評判の、定年退職した元校長の森衣恭一は妻がこの世を去って以来、淡々とした毎日を送っていた。彼の家を訪ねて来るのは、森衣が長年撮りためてきた写真を資料として残したいという市役所職員と野良猫のミイぐらいだった。亡くなった妻はミイをかわいがっていたが、森衣は猫が苦手で追い払おうとする。

小学生の頃からの親友同士である、高校生の修太（福士蒼汰）、朔（野村周平）、ミチル（本田翼）。恋と友情の入り交じった関係にある彼らだったが、ミチルの海外留学が決まってしまう。黙って出発した彼女が自分の気持ちをつづった手紙を受け取り、空港へ向かう朔だったがそのまま命を落としてしまう。それから2年。空虚な日々を送っていた修太は、行きたい時と場所を思い浮かべるとその時代に行けるという時空移動の方法が書かれた奇妙な本を手にする。試しに実践してみると、彼は朔が死亡する前日に戻っていた。

It’s graduation day. Junichi Shinohara shows up at school following a prolonged absence, to find a gigantic “pit” dug in the middle of the campus and all his classmates gathered in the classroom. Then, a strange message comes over the PA system. “In one hour, everyone will die. There is only one way to survive. You must offer a sacrifice.” At first, Shinohara, Rika Suzuki and others think it’s some sort of bad joke. But when the first victim is claimed, they realize it’s a terrifying reality....

高校卒業式の朝。篠原純一(須賀健太)が数週間ぶりに登校すると、底の見えない巨大な“穴”が校庭にあり、教室には登校拒否だった生徒を含むクラスメイト全員が揃っていた。やがて校内放送で「今から1時間後にあなたたちは全員死にます。ただし生き残る方法があります、それは生贄を捧げることです……」という不可解なメッセージが告げられる。篠原や同級の鈴木理香(竹富聖花)たちは、タチの悪いイタズラだと考えていたが、最初の“犠牲者”が出たことにより、それは紛れもない事実であることを知る。そんな中、高校生たちは自らが生き残るためにクラスメイトに投票し、生贄を選出するという過酷な選択を迫られる……。

42年勤めた富山地方鉄道を1か月後に定年退職する滝島徹（三浦友和）。運転士の父親が倒れたことからやむなく同じ職業に就いた徹だったが、現在は誇りを持って自身の仕事に務めていた。一方、彼を支えてきた妻・佐和子（余貴美子）は、がん検診で再検査となったことをきっかけに、自分の人生を見つめ直し始める。

青森県鯵ヶ沢町でイカ焼き屋「きくや」を営むセツ子は、たくさんの捨て犬を保護して、世話をしていた。店は犬を可愛がる子供たちが集まり、特に小学生のアキラは犬が大好きだった。ある日、白いライオンのような犬が町で見かけられるようになる。独特の風貌から町の人々は犬を「わさお」と呼んでいたが、食べ物を与えようとしても、なかなか近付いてこない。しかし、セツ子は、わさおの視線の先に、常にアキラがいる事に気がつく。

Through a coincidence Tozaki runs into Kurata, his first crush from high school. They begin a relationship, but Kurata's jealousy starts causing problems.

主人公・筒井肇は大手家電メーカーの経営企画室長。取締役への昇進が内定するなど、東京で妻子とともに暮らす彼の人生は一見、順風満帆そのものだった。そんなある日、故郷・島根に住む肇の母が倒れたという一報が入る。さらに親しかった肇の会社の同期が自動車事故で亡くなった。久々に帰郷した肇は家庭を顧みてこなかったこれまでの人生、そして今後の人生について考えた。そして自分の子供の頃の夢だった「一畑電車の運転士になる」ことを実現すべく会社を退職し、一畑電車に中途入社することとなった。晴れて運転士となったのは肇の他にもうひとり、肘の故障でプロ野球入りの夢を絶たれた青年・宮田がいた。

6年2組を担任することになった新米教師の星（妻夫木聡）は、食べることを前提として子ブタを飼うことをクラスの生徒たちに提案する。校長先生（原田美枝子）にも相談し、卒業までの1年間26人の生徒が子ブタの面倒を交代でみることになる。最初は戸惑っていた子どもたちも、“Pちゃん”と名付けた子ブタを次第にかわいがるようになる。
