高層ビルが林立する現代都市・東京。外資系企業に勤めるアメリカ人のアンソニーは、日本人の妻ゆり子と3歳の息子トムとともに幸せな家庭生活を送る毎日。ところがある日、トムは、その祖父で、かつて解剖学者だったライドの定期検診を受けた帰り道、謎の男が運転する車にひき殺されてしまう。最愛の息子を失ったアンソニーは、怒りと悲しみの感情を次第に抑えきれなくなって体に変調をきたすようになる。
