毎夜悪夢にうなされる夢二。そんな中、夢二は駆け落ち相手の彦乃と落ち合うべく金沢近郊の湖畔へとやって来る。だが、彦乃は現われない。そして、静かな村に銃声が鳴り響く。旅館の女将は、鬼松という男が妻と妻を寝取った男・脇屋を殺し山へ逃げ込んだため、山狩りをしているのだと教える。一方湖では、殺された脇屋の妻・巴代が湖面にボートを浮かべ夫の死体が浮かび上がってくるのを待ち続けていた。その姿を目にした夢二は次第に巴代の虜になっていく。
