カリフォルニアのトレーラー・キャンプに住むアレックス青年は、キャンプの雑用係として働いている。ガール・フレンドのマギーとのデートがキャンセルになった日、唯一の楽しみであるビデオゲーム「スター・ファイター」に挑戦し最高点をあげた夜、宇宙人のセントーリが現わる。セントーリは、ズアーという男が宇宙の権力を握ろうとしていることと、宇宙戦闘機隊に宇宙戦士として参加して欲しいとアレックスに伝える。
