銀行で貸し付けを担当しているバツイチ男カール・アレン。離婚して以来、私生活では友人の誘いをいつも断り、仕事ではローンの申請書に却下のスタンプを日々押し続けている味気ない人生を送っていた。ある日、親友の婚約パーティまでもすっぽかしてしまったことで友人から生き方を変えない限り、お前はひとりぼっちになると脅されとあるセミナーへ参加することになり主宰者から、意味のある人生を送るための唯一のルールは如何なることでも全て「イエス」と言うだけと説かれ「イエス」を連発していくと次第に物事が好転し始めるのだった。
