1995年、ロサンゼルスのビデオショップに、突然正体不明の女性が空から降ってくる。彼女には驚くべきパワーが備わっていたが、全く覚えていない“記憶”がフラッシュバックすることが悩みだった。その記憶にはある秘密が隠されており、それを狙う敵がいた。彼女は、後にアベンジャーズを結成するニック・フューリーと共に戦いに身を投じることになる。
