Berliner Philharmoniker 2021/22: Silvesterkonzert mit Kirill Petrenko und Janine Jansen
Experience New Year's Eve 2021 with the Berliner Philharmoniker in a cinema near you! The Berliner Philharmoniker and chief conductor Kirill Petrenko said goodbye to the year with a slightly different Viennese dance music. Incidental music by Erich Wolfgang Korngold enriches a Shakespeare comedy with Viennese flair, Richard Strauss celebrates coffee house culture in his ballet whipped cream, while Maurice Ravel delivers an ecstatic, explosive version of the Viennese waltz with La Valse. Another highlight is Max Bruch's First Violin Concerto with Janine Jansen.

Janine
Janine Jansen is the most frequently downloaded classical artist, we learn from this biopic in which we follow the beloved and successful violinist from Soest in recording studios and on concert stages. The hectic life of a musician of world-wide renown. And still she is just as uninhibited and spontaneous as ever. When, during a recording of Beethoven's violin concerto, she listens to the orchestra, we see her in close-up for minutes. Every emotion in the music comes to life on her face. Colleagues from the music scene comment on her talent. For herself, she does not want to know how she does it, afraid she will no longer be able to do it anymore. This almost happens when recording Bach's intimidating Chaconne. An all-out effort and perfection appear to be the key. Meanwhile, other people are preparing the launch of the once-only glossy Janine. Because Janine Jansen is also a marketable product.

Music at the Sea
Herself
In the year 2001 the acclaimed violin vituoso Julian Rachlin founded a festival of chamber music in Dubrovnik. He introduced a new and successful concept of gathering some of the most famous world musicians and letting them play the music that they personally enjoy. In 2008 the austrian filmmaker Georg Riha joined the festival to cinematically accompany the star violinist: Masterly, as usual, and in the highest aesthetics as well as in technical quality, he succeeded with this film composition to tape the magical atmosphere of the city at the sea and the relaxed artistic work of Julian Rachlin and his friends. See the Rector’s Palace, rehearsals, the sea, conversations, sun and wind, concerts and a lot of fun.
Janine Jansen: Vivaldi - The Four Seasons
Janine Jansen follows her first Decca album of violin favorites with this high-energy account of Vivaldi's four violin concertos, known and loved as 'The Four Seasons'. The Dutch violinist leads her specially selected group of soloists in a fresh look at the most loved of all classical works. What gives this recording its tremendous freshness and sparkle is Janine's use of just one player per part. Gone is the heavy orchestral sound which is so familiar, this is a four seasons which sparkles with new life and energy, like a freshly cleaned old painting revealed in its true colors.
