Three bumbling Army reservists are hustled onto a plane headed for combat in Iraq -- but the fact that the plane drops them in Mexico doesn't stop them from "liberating" what they believe to be the Middle East.

ブルース・ノーランは、ニューヨーク州バッファローのローカル・テレビ局に勤めるレポーター。アンカーマンの座を目指す彼だったが、それをライバルのエヴァンに奪われ、ショックの余り放送禁止用語を口走ってクビになってしまう。さらにギャングから袋叩きにされ、同棲中の恋人グレースにも不満をぶつける始末。どん底に突き落とされたブルースのポケベルに、翌朝不思議な呼び出しが。彼を待っていたのは、清掃服姿の神だった。神はブルースに自分の役割を譲り、ブルースは全能の力を身につける。
