A depiction of social satire, Talihli Amele [The Lucky Worker] (1980) shows the transformation of a young man who immigrated to Istanbul to provide a better life for his family. With hopes to become a successful mason, he suddenly finds himself the star of a TV commercial. Drawing attention to the rising consumerism culture and its effects on individuals in Turkey, the film was allowed to be shown with a State Council verdict.
Yusuf, 14, and Kenan, 9, are two shepherd brothers. When their father was killed as a result of a blood feud, children flee to Istanbul to find their only relative, uncle Ali. However all efforts to find him fail. They meet a street kid named Bocek (insect) under the brutal conditions of the big city. And Insect introduces them Carpik (crooked), a young man who does illegal activities. Carpik suggests Yusuf to work together. Desperate Yusuf accepts this and starts burglary with him. On the other hand Kenan has a modest personality and resists.
Zeki and Metin are two close friends who want to get married with the girls they love but they are both broke. One day they find petrol from their garden and everything changes. They become rich by selling the petrol that they found in their garden. The value of the house triples all of a sudden.
