妖怪の世界から人間を守っていたバリアが壊れ、たくさんの妖怪たちが押し寄せてきた。彼らを捕らえるため、凄腕の妖怪ハンターで小説家でもあるプウ (ジャッキー・チェン)が人間界に送り込まれる。プウは「陰陽の筆」の力を使い、邪悪な妖怪たちを地獄に封印するミッションを遂行。あるとき、村の少女たちが美しい二人の女妖怪によって次々と誘拐される事件が発生する。捜査に当たるプウ。そこへ正体不明の男チュイシャ(イーサン・ルアン)が現れ、女妖怪の一人シャオチン（エレイン・チョン）がかつては人間で、愛する者のために妖怪になったという哀しい過去を語る。難しい選択を迫られるプウ。シャオチンを捕らえるのか、それとも・・・
