In Singapore, con artist Michelle marries a corrupt local businessman to avoid prison, then swindles him and escapes the country. He follows her to L.A., so she moves in with her hunky oil tycoon ex and his scheming girlfriend, Lisa.

A grandmother sues her daughter for custody of her grandson, because she believes that her daughter's homosexuality renders her unfit for motherhood.

アッテンボロー監督による、喜劇王チャーリー・チャップリンの生涯を描いた作品。映画は、チャップリンが幼少の頃から、名門カルノー一座の看板俳優時代、そしてハリウッドでの映画製作、富と名声を得、やがて映画「チャップリンの独裁者」の製作に纏わる国外追放、終戦後のアメリカへの帰国から白髪のはえるまで、彼の一生を克明に追って行きながら、その中での孤独、悲しみ、苦しみ、さらには母、兄弟、恋人などの彼に関わる人物をも含み、チャップリンの人生の軌跡を描いてゆく。
