人々が謎の闇によって次から次へと命を奪われ、社会が崩壊してから5年。ここまで生き延びてきた母親は2人の子供を連れて、見えない恐怖と戦いながら安住の地を目指す危険な旅に出る。

3人の子を持つルネとジョシュの夫婦は、引っ越しの矢先、物が移動したり、ベビーモニターから不気味な声が聞こえるなどの怪奇現象に悩まされる。そんな中、はしごから落ちた小学生の長男が昏睡状態に陥ってしまう。検査でも異常は見られなかったものの、なぜか長男は意識を回復しない。恐怖を感じたルネは夫に懇願して再び引っ越すが、彼らの後を追うように怪現象は止まず、ついに霊媒師や牧師に助けを求める。
