ロサンゼルス。部屋を探すサラは、あるアパートの見学会を訪れた。築は古いが小ぎれいな建物と、家族のように支え合っている仲の良い住人たちに好感を持ち、彼女もまた住人たちに気に入られたことから、サラはこの物件に入居を決める。理想的な新生活が始まったかに思えたが、やがて壁の配管から異音が響き、ペット禁止にもかかわらずサラがこっそり猫を飼っていることをなじる無記名の手紙が届くなど、不穏な出来事が続き……。
