Visual artist and filmmaker. Her artistic practice is developed from the image, the links and the experiential spaces, between the intangible and the structures of the social order. Director of experimental documentaries such as Centella (2019), Murciélago (2018) and El Monte (2017), her artistic projects and films have been shown in different art spaces such as Paul Robeson Galleries Newark, the Center for Contemporary Arts Glasgow, the Museum of Modern Art in Medellín, the CCCC in Valencia, the BilbaoArte Foundation, the Cervantes Institute in Tokyo and NY, as well as in international film festivals (Ann Arbor, Raindance, Ji.hlava, FIC Guadalajara, Documentamadrid or MakeDox, among others). Graduated in Documentary Film Direction from the San Antonio de los Baños International Film School (Cuba), and in Fine Arts from the University of the Arts London (United Kingdom) and the Higher Institute of Art of Havana (Cuba), has participated in alternative programs of study and artistic production such as POPS (Colectivo Ayllu, Matadero, Madrid), Campus (Latitudes, Barcelona) and La Practica (Beta Local, Puerto Rico).

Director
Hailstone is a “condensation” of images from 2020 in Super 8 film. The work, composed of moments lived or seen through screens—such as video calls, Instagram Live footage, home videos, and TV broadcasts—solidifies a piece of the collective memory of the year of the pandemic.

In Cuba the flight of fireflies in the night is said to be like a meeting of miniature specters, weakened fires, or wandering souls. Isabel invokes them and triggers the dance.
