1944年12月、アルデンヌ高地。米軍のカッパら連合軍がいる基地はドイツ軍の攻撃を受け、反撃せざるを得ない事態に。カッパが率いる小隊は、指揮官の命令を受けて最前線に向かい、敵の2つの師団が集まっている地点へ。しかし、凍傷の危険性、味方から届く情報の不足など、不利な状況に誰しも希望を持てない。カッパらの小隊が敵の戦車隊に苦戦を強いられるなど、連合軍とドイツ軍は何度も激しい交戦を繰り広げていくが……。
