José Mariano Díaz Duarte was born on September 7, 1992 in Guatemala City, Guatemala to guatemalan parents. He grew up in Guatemala City, at age 17 he started his studies in Communication at Rafael Landívar University. He started his career in 2010 appearing in several local television commercials, but his first major acting role came up in 2013, in Erick Gálvez's 2+1 (2014). Since then he has appeared in several film an television productions.

"THE BLACK CHRIST" In the easternmost part of Guatemala, close to the border with Honduras and El Salvador lies the town of Esquipulas and its magnificent baroque basilica. Here, daily lives are intertwined between local inhabitants and those drawn to the location's magical draw. Carmen, a young mother is abandoned by her philandering husband and struggles to survive alongside her young son, Esteban.
