Mirae, a twentysomething game engineer feels nauseous one day. To her horror, she finds out that the hangover was actually her body being pregnant. 朝鮮戦争中、父親と末の妹と生き別れたドクス（ファン・ジョンミン）は、母親と2人のきょうだいと一緒に避難民として釜山で暮らすことに。まだ幼いながらも家長として家族を守ることを心に誓った彼は、自分のことは後回しにしていつも必死に働いてきた。その後、西ドイツの炭鉱で働き、ベトナム戦争に従軍するなど、ドクスは何度も命の危険にさらされる。
