Manson Law, a celebrated stockbroker in Hong Kong, is injured in a car accident. The police, led by Inspector Jack Ho, discovers a military surveillance device in the car wreck. 1938年、日中戦争の激化によって中国本土から香港に逃れていた女子大学生・王佳芝（ワン・チアチー）は、学友・鄺祐民（クァン・ユイミン）の勧誘で抗日運動をかかげる学生劇団に入団。翌年、佳芝も地下工作員として、暗殺の機を窺うため特務機関の易（イー）を誘惑したが、易の厳しい警戒で暗殺は未遂に終わる。3年後、再度、易暗殺の工作員として抜擢された佳芝は激しい性愛を交わすうち、すさまじい孤独の苦悩を抱える易にいつしか魅かれてゆく。
