東京で暮らす29歳のOLクミコは、親しい友人も恋人もおらず孤独な毎日を過ごしていた。そんな彼女の唯一の楽しみは、コーエン兄弟の映画「ファーゴ」を見ること。冒頭の「本作は実話に基づく」というテロップを信じ込み、スティーブ・ブシェーミ演じる登場人物が大金を埋める場面を繰り返し見てはその場所を想像するのだった。ある日、会社のクレジットカードを預かったクミコは、そのカードを使って旅費を支払い、映画の舞台となった都市ファーゴへと向かう。
