Genshû Hanayagi

EAT THE KIMONO is a brilliant documentary about Hanayagi Genshu, a Japanese feminist and avant-garde dancer and performer, who has spent her life defying her conservative culture's contempt for independence and unconventionality. She denounced Emperor Hirohito as a war criminal, and dismissed death threats made against her by right-wing groups.

A woman living alone is visited by her ex-husband. At the same time a young couple who are about to break up get trapped in the town as public transport is cut off.

Hanayagi Genshu, who spent a winter in Tochihara Women's Prison due to an injury to the Hanayagi style Iemoto, is allowed to be paroleed. In Asakusa, she reunited with her prison companion, Sayoko Nakano. Genshu, Sayoko, and Setsuko Kanno gather at a yakitori restaurant to reminisce about their prison days. This is the second drama of her prison record that was broadcast in 1984 and caused a sensation.

The twelfth shogun, Ieyoshi, embraces Oruri day and night under the care of Fujioka, a guest attendant at the O-oku. However, Fujioka's senior, Kumoi, who recommends Oseki to him, is not amused at all. The scene between Fujioka and Kumoi was symbolic of the battle between women in the O-oku. Fujioka hears from Orui that she is pregnant and rejoices that she has nothing to fear if she bears the Shogun's child. Two women are ferried to a small prison colony on the remote and barren prison island, where they and their fellow inmates are forced to perform perilous slave labor along the island’s treacherous cliffs, overseen by both an unforgiving sun and a crew of abusive male wardens. Meanwhile, the arrival of a newcomer among the island’s administrators, a disgraced policeman who is also the son of Nagasaki’s governor, creates dissension between the officials that, along with an untimely outbreak of bubonic plague on the island, ultimately sets the stage for a daring escape attempt on the part of the prisoners.

Okatsu the Fugitive is the third film in the "Ohyaku/Okatsu" series. Okatsu; a "tomboy" who is good with a sword. Her father has found her a man to marry and actually she doesn't seem too upset about the situation. At the same time, a bunch of farmers are being slaughtered by a corrupt group running a tobacco smuggling ring. They're being investigated by a man who is documenting their crimes and when they find out about it, they torture him for information but get none. It's not long before he and Okatsu's mother wind up dead and she sets out for revenge.
