Ｃ・チャップリンが残した名作の数々を題材にしたバレエ作品「ダンシング・チャップリン」が映画に。周防正行監督が妻・草刈民代の“最後の踊り”を記録したバレエ映画。 “第一幕〈アプローチ〉”は、1991年に初演されたローラン・プティのバレエ作品「ダンシング・チャップリン」を映画化するまでの60日間の記録。R・プティと監督との攻防やチャップリンの息子ユージーンのインタビューなどで舞台裏が描かれる。“第二幕〈バレエ〉”は、初演時に全2幕20場で構成されていた作品を監督自身が13場まで絞り込み、再構成し、映画として撮影。7人のダンサーが華麗なダンスを繰り広げる。
